TRADITIONAL YANG STYLE TAI CHI CHUAN (Yang Lu Chan Lineage, Direct disciple of Yau Yee Kay)
Yang Style Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art. Originally designed as a fighting style, Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi is also known as “The Grand Ultimate”. It is a powerful and respected system of Kung Fu. In modern times, the profound health and fitness aspects of Tai Chi are most commonly known and revered world wide. Also known as Moving Meditation, Tai Chi is also used effectively for, relaxation and stress management. Plus, it looks really cool.
With over ten year’s experience under Master Yau Yee Kay, Sifu Peter Atkin teaches the original Yang Style Tai Chi system. This is not to be confused with the modern Beijing Yang style used for international competition.
THE FOCUS OF THE EASTERN ACADEMY’S TRADITIONAL YANG STYLE TAI CHI
Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi focuses on slow movement, fluidity, softness and deep breathing. Linking one form to the other to create fluidity through our movement. Like a circle, it never starts or ends. It just flows on. The slow extension of the arms combined with the soft stepping over the ground strengthens our body. Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi powers our body internally and externally creating a balance that most forms of exercise do not provide.
Tai Chi incorporates deep breathing to harmonize our body energy (chi). The deep breath used in Tai Chi entails breathing using the Dan Tien (Diaphragm). We breathe softly but deeply to fully charge our bodies with oxygen. This breathing is but one of the reasons that Tai Chi is so widely know as such a powerful health giving exercise.
As a low impact exercise, Tai Chi is great for those wishingto regain fitness or seeking rehabilitation from niggling injuries and heath problems. It is great for all ages and health conditions. While it is not a quick fix, the patient and diligent Tai Chi practitioner can achieve long term remedies from many ailments.
Eg: Bad backs, knees, migraines, hip complaints and more.
“Yang Style Tai Chi is about softness and fluidity. To develop an internal energy within our technique and footwork. To link our movements seamlessly like a circle. Feel the Flow.”
